As NAMB goes, so goes the Southern Baptist Convention

NAMB goes, so goes the Southern Baptist Convention.

This statement is more true now than ever with Kevin Ezell as NAMB President. I have had the opportunity to hear Dr. Carlisle Driggers, retired Executive Director for the South Carolina Baptist Convention speak to this issue on several occasions. Our history as a convention has shown that it is NAMB which is the engine.

    The IMB is the engine. If you surveyed every person associated with the SBC over 50% would say the IMB. More people would probably say the BFM than they would NAMB- not that NAMB isnt important.

    I would have to disagree with Dr. Driggers on this one. As the church goes, so goes the SBC. As a convention, we have been asked to place the Great Commission at the top of our priority list. If this challenge is not taken up at the church level, we will never see the dramatic change necessary. I would agree with Matt that IMB and NAMB are engines. The local church fuels the engine.
